The Benefits of Private vs. Semi-Private Training Sessions

At Infinite Hitting South Raleigh, we've developed a training model that strikes the perfect balance between personalized attention and peer learning. With just one to two students per hour, our hitting lessons provide the best of both worlds—intensive individual coaching and the added benefit of watching and learning from a partner. Let's break down the advantages of this approach.

The 1-2 Kids Per Hour Model

Unlike traditional group clinics with five, ten, or even more athletes sharing a coach's attention, our model keeps things intimate. Each hour-long session accommodates either one athlete for pure individual instruction, or two athletes who trade off—while one works, the other observes, rests, and prepares. This structure maximizes coaching time for everyone involved.

Benefits of Private Sessions (1-on-1)

When an athlete has the coach's full attention, every drill, every correction, and every swing is customized specifically for them. Private sessions are ideal for:

  • Working on specific mechanical issues that need focused attention
  • Players preparing for tryouts, tournaments, or high-pressure games
  • Beginners who need a solid foundation before joining group settings
  • Advanced hitters fine-tuning elite-level mechanics
  • Anyone who wants maximum efficiency from each minute of training

Benefits of Semi-Private Sessions (2-on-1)

When two athletes share a session, they alternate between active work and observation. This approach offers unique advantages:

  • Peer learning: Watching another player's swing can reveal habits you didn't realize you had—both good and bad
  • Built-in rest: While your partner hits, you recover physically and mentally
  • Healthy competition: Seeing progress in a partner often motivates athletes to push harder
  • Social engagement: Training with a friend or teammate makes sessions more enjoyable

How Our Sessions Work

1

Book Your Session

Choose private or semi-private when scheduling. Bring a training partner or we'll pair you with another athlete of similar age and ability.

2

Warm Up Together

Sessions start with a group warm-up where both athletes prepare their bodies for hitting.

3

Trade Off & Train

Athletes rotate between active hitting drills and observation/coaching moments with the instructor.

4

Review & Plan

Each session ends with coaching feedback and recommendations for continued improvement.

A Flexible, Rotational Approach

At Infinite Hitting South Raleigh, we don't view private and semi-private as fixed choices—it's a flexible system that rotates based on where each athlete is in their progression. Some weeks a player might work one-on-one with a coach to focus on a specific mechanical issue. Other weeks, they might be paired with another athlete at a similar skill level to trade off and learn from each other.

This rotational approach keeps training fresh and effective. When an athlete is working through a mechanical adjustment, private attention ensures they're getting the immediate feedback they need. When they're in a maintenance phase or building confidence, pairing them with a compatible partner adds variety and motivation.

We match athletes based on age, ability level, and training goals. So whether your player is partnered up or working solo, they get exactly what they need that week. It's all part of our commitment to personalized development for every baseball and softball player who walks through our doors.

Why Larger Groups Fall Short

In typical group lessons with five or more athletes, each hitter might get only five to ten minutes of actual swing work per hour—plus long stretches of standing around. The math simply doesn't favor rapid improvement. Our 1-2 athlete model ensures that every minute of your session is productive, coached, and purposeful.
